Pair of Mahogany Nightstands — 1960, Refinished Mid-Century Modern, Tiered Open Shelf

A matched pair of mahogany nightstands, dated June 1960 and confirmed by the factory stamp inside the case. Each has an open shelf under the top for a book or a clock, and a drawer below with a sculpted lip pull running the full width. They stand on tapered cone legs, which is what keeps them from feeling blocky at this size.

Finding two is the point. Singles turn up constantly; a true pair, same wood and same color, is a different thing. Sold together only.

Restoration
Both refinished by hand. The mahogany came back warm and even, with the grain running clean across the tops and drawer fronts. Drawers slide smooth, legs are solid, no wobble.

These are vintage pieces, not new ones. Refinishing takes them a long way, but it doesn't erase sixty-five years — expect light marks here and there. That's part of what you're buying.

How they work in a room
They sit either side of a bed, but also work as end tables flanking a sofa, or one on its own beside a chair. At 23" tall they land just under mattress height on most beds, and the 18" width fits a tight bedroom without crowding the walk space. The open shelf keeps a book and a lamp out without the surface getting cluttered.
