Stanley Furniture Walnut Credenza / Media Console — Refinished 1960s Mid-Century Modern, 52"

A 1960s walnut credenza by Stanley Furniture, 52" wide and just over 30" tall, with six drawers — three on each side. At this size it isn't only a bedroom piece. It works as a media console with a TV on top, an entry cabinet, a dining room server, or a dresser, and the drawers take whatever you need them to.
The long pulls are carved straight into the drawer fronts, so nothing sticks out and there's nothing to catch a hip on. It stands on a sculpted sled base with brass plugs at the legs. The walnut across the six fronts is matched as one continuous face — you can follow the grain from the left side to the right without a break. That detail costs money to do, and most makers of the period skipped it.
Restoration
Refinished entirely by hand: stripped, repaired where it needed it, and the finish built back in stages. The color came back warm rather than the orange tone these take on as the original finish ages, and the grain reads clearly instead of sitting under a muddy film. Drawers run smooth, joints tight, no wobble, nothing sticking.
This is a vintage piece, not a new one. Refinishing takes it a long way, but it doesn't erase sixty years — expect light marks here and there. That's part of what you're buying.

A bit of history
Stanley Furniture was founded in 1924 in Stanleytown, Virginia by Thomas B. Stanley, who later became Governor of the state. The company built its name making architecturally serious design affordable for ordinary families, and its mid-century work is what the brand is collected for now. Most of what surfaces today has a tired top and sun-faded fronts.
Before you buy
Measure your wall — 52" is the number that matters, and at 19" deep it won't eat your walk space. If you're putting a TV on it, the top is a single clean surface with no overhang to work around.
Delivery
We deliver throughout the NYC metro area, New Jersey, Philadelphia and eastern Pennsylvania through a furniture moving service we work with.
Shipping anywhere else in the country is available through a blanket-wrap freight carrier. Large pieces travel wrapped and padded rather than boxed, which is the right way to move vintage furniture — nothing gets taped to the finish and nothing rides loose.
