Young Manufacturing Curved Walnut Credenza with Hutch — Refinished 1960s Mid-Century Modern

A 1960s walnut credenza and matching hutch by Young Manufacturing Co. of Norwood, North Carolina — the curved-front model, and the one people stop for. Sculpted curved drawer fronts, long rounded pulls carved directly into the wood, and a floating sled base that makes the whole piece read lighter than it is. The hutch sits on top with glass doors and adjustable shelves: real storage that doesn't weigh down a room.

Both pieces were refinished by hand rather than sprayed, so the grain stays visible and the color stays warm. This was a refresh, not a rescue — everything was solid and tight to begin with.

A bit of history
Van Sciver was the Camden furniture house that sold this set new, running stores across South Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania from 1881 to 1983 — so this piece has been in the region a long time. Young Manufacturing was one of the better American mid-century makers, quietly doing sculptural walnut work on par with names that get far more attention.

The hutch is optional
It's a separate top section. The base works on its own as a dining room sideboard, a long media console, or bar storage, and plenty of buyers keep the hutch aside. The two are sold together, but you're not committed to the full height.
